§ 87-1. Board established; purpose; membership.

  • There is established a Norwalk Public Library Board, which shall make rules and regulations for the government of the Norwalk Public Library, branch libraries and reading rooms, and shall have the care and supervision of the grounds, rooms or buildings constructed, leased, given or set apart to the Norwalk Public Library for library purposes. Said Board shall consist of nine members, five of whom shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Common Council, two of whom shall be appointed by the Commissioners of the First Taxing District and two of whom shall be appointed by the Commissioners of the Second Taxing District. Said Board shall annually prepare a budget, advisory in nature, for submission to the Board of Estimate of the City of Norwalk.
